About this skill

Remotion makes videos out of code: every frame is a React component, so a promo, an explainer or a data clip can be rendered again with new words in seconds. The catch is that writing it is fiddly, and a project that looks right will often refuse to start or flicker once rendered.

This skill does the writing. You describe the video, and it returns the whole project, built on rules that were checked by actually rendering the output:

  • Starts from the official blank template, so every file it mentions exists.
  • Adds extra packages through Remotion's own installer, so versions always match.
  • Every movement is tied to the frame, which is what stops flicker in the final render.
  • The total length is calculated from the scenes and transitions, never typed by hand.
  • Korean, Japanese and Chinese text loads the full font and wraps between words.

You need Node.js on your computer. Rendering happens there, not here, so there is no per-video render fee and you can render as many variations as you like.

Remotion is free for individuals and companies of up to three people; larger companies need a Remotion company licence. Based on the MIT-licensed remotion skill by remotion-dev.

What comes back

  • A scene-by-scene plan with timings, so you can see the video before you build it.
  • Every file of a Remotion 4 project, complete — nothing left as "…" for you to fill in.
  • The setup and render commands, in order, with the extra packages installed at the version that matches.
  • Every piece of text, colour and asset name gathered in one place, with how to render a variation.

What it needs from you

  • What the video is for and what it should say. Paste the script or the lines if you have them.
  • Where it is going (Reels, YouTube, a website) and roughly how long. If you skip these, sensible ones are chosen and named.
  • Colours, fonts or files you already have, such as a logo — optional.
